Our AimTo Save Birch Church

Birch InSpire is a charity (Registered Charity Number 1214106), comprising a small group of volunteer business professionals. Our aim is to save as much as possible of the church of St Peter and St Paul (Birch Church), in Birch, Essex, from imminent demolition. Birch Church was designed by the famous Victorian architect, SS Teulon, in 1850 and holds a significant place in the region’s heritage as a prominent, grade II listed, local landmark.

We feel that the elimination of this spectacular and well-loved iconic landmark would leave a huge void on the local landscape, something which would be impossible to fill.

Our Vision

Our vision, working with Chelmsford Diocese and the local community, is to create a stunning heritage destination by generating a sustainable end use for the spire and the chancel of the church. The heritage location will comprise a "café with a soul", a local produce shop and some smaller rentable space, primarily for health and wellbeing use.

Please do look at the following pages to see more on our work, who we are, more about our vision, and our fundraising!

Lastly, we would like to thank all the people that have supported Birch InSpire and enabled us to achieve so much. We would particularly like to thank Oliver Brock from it’seeze Colchester for all his help in designing this website.
